2023 was a transformative year for Seventy Five North. We bid farewell to our former President & CEO, Cydney Franklin, and welcomed Sharlon Rodgers, who brings a new strategic vision for the future of the Highlander neighborhood. Our fourth phase of housing welcomed new residents, doubling the size of Highlander’s rental community. Additionally, we were pleased to welcome new organizations, such as No More Empty Pots and Nebraska Medicine/University of Nebraska Medical Center, to the neighborhood.

Read MoreCheers to 10 years of revitalization at Highlander! 2021 marked a milestone year with the completion of Highlander’s third phase of multi-family housing, introducing Nobility Point, a 60-unit independent senior living facility that was fully leased shortly after opening. The year also saw Howard Kennedy Elementary, our neighborhood school, earning international acclaim as an Apple Distinguished School for its innovative use of technology in education.

Our organization also expanded its footprint with the awarding of the Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grant, a $25 million initiative to continue the revitalization of the North 30th Street Corridor with an emphasis on the redevelopment of the Spencer Homes public housing facility.
Read More2018 was a groundbreaking year at Highlander! The Highlander neighborhood welcomed new developments with the opening of the Highlander Accelerator and the completion of 101 mixed-income rental homes, reaching full occupancy with a waitlist of 300 families. The Highlander community saw the inauguration of a swimming pool, playground, and Omaha Early Learning Center at Kennedy. The neighborhood was activated with the first annual Highlander Community Day and National Night Out, fostering community engagement and highlighting new developments.
Read MoreIn 2017, we celebrated the near completion of the 65,000 square foot Highlander Accelerator community enrichment facility and the construction of over 100 rental units, with a 98% lease rate. The Highlander neighborhood was further fortified by the introduction of new amenities such as a playground, a reintroduced street grid, and bike lanes, creating a more pedestrian-friendly neighborhood.
